You brought back temporarily forgotten memories of Berlin in your February 14 sermon. “Checkpoint Charlie” was in full operation in 1969 when station in Germany. An army friend from Waldorf who worked at the checkpoint showed me around—as much as he could—for it was indeed “dark and gloomy”as you mentioned in your message and the Bolsheviks were not pleasant or playing soldier at all. They were, as you described yourself before meeting the Minnesota man, sad faced and ready, at all times, to eliminate those who attempted to crossed over the border.
Memories remembered but your message of hope in Jesus on the Mountain was especially comforting and hope filled.
