Hi Pastor Trask,
We look forward to the Bible studies and often have questions. However, the Youtube/Roku version doesn’t include the comment section.
For today, actually yesterday’s study, we were wondering about the painting . Could you explain it a bit more, especially the significance of the dove’s three “streamers.” Does that represent the trinity? Who is the artist?
Thank you for all you are doing, we hope that eventually things get back to normal, or “new normal.” Though it is good for Bill to be able to hear the service and Bible studies more clearly, and for both of us to be able to hit “rewind” and watch them again, we look forward to the day when we can all move about more freely and hug and talk and “fellowship” the way we used to do.
I do not know about the streamers or the artist, but John holding the cross/staff is kind of a standard thing in the older baptismal paintings of Jesus. Mostly, my interpretation of that painting comes from what I know of Jesus. The Artist seemed to know the same thing. I believe I first saw this painting on Sister Wendy’s show. Perhaps you remember the old nun who visited art museums on PBS. They used her as filler, because her show was short, but I found her show to be one of the best.
